A Rolling stone Gathers no Moss

Museumspavillon Stadgalerie Salzburg, 2021. Installation with variable dimensions. Greenhouses, clay, branches, fungi, glazed stoneware.

In his installation in an old aviary, Georg Scherlin questions the cultural shaping of nature and the interplay between romanticism and economic operations. Discarded greenhouses serve as a habitat for fungi cultures, which overgrow the interior furnishings. On the outside, clay-painted comic strips tell the social practise of anthropomorphic creatures. Architecture and tools grow together in overgrown landscapes and through their symbiosis question the often hierarchical structure of history of ideas.
