Austernpilze, Bücher, glasiertes Steinzeug, mobiler Imbissstand

Über mehrere Wochen werden Bücherspenden gesammelt und mit einer Pilzbrut infiziert. In speziellen Fruchtkammern zersetzt das Myzel die Zellulose des Papiers. Die Fragen, inwieweit eine Einschreibung der Texte in das Fleisch der Pilze stattfindet und ob die Kraft der Gedanken das Wachstum beeinflusst, sind von zentralem Interesse. Die gezüchteten Austernpilze werden mithilfe eines mobilen Imbissstandes zurück an die Herkunftsorte der Bücher und in den Warenkreislauf gebracht. Die modulare Küche sowie speziell angefertigte Werkzeuge und Teller, erlauben mir als Koch und Geschichtenerzähler wechselnden Streetfood-Gerichte zuzubereiten und den Gästen das literarisch passende Surrogat zu reichen.

Performance in public space

Oyster mushrooms, books, glazed stoneware, foodtruck

For several weeks, I collect book donations and infect them with a fungal spawn. In special fruiting chambers, the mycelium decomposes the cellulose of the paper. The question of the extent, to which the texts are inscribed in the flesh of the mushrooms and whether the power of thought influences the growth are of central interest. The cultivated oyster mushrooms are brought back to the books’ origin and into the product cycle with the help of a mobile food truck. The modular kitchen and specially made tools and plates allow me, as chef and storyteller, to prepare changing street food dishes and serve the guests the literary surrogate.
