Georg Scherlin (1985 in Traunstein, DE) gestaltet Skulpturen und Installationen, die zum Mitmachen einladen. Er bezieht sich selbst in der Figur des Künstlers performativ mit ein und hinterfragt auf selbstreflexive Weise die historischen, wirtschaftlichen und sozialen Bedingungen der Bildhauerei. Dabei thematisiert er insbesondere das Verhältnis von Mensch und Natur: eine Beziehung, die selbst in Zeiten schwerwiegender Umweltzerstörung weiterhin von romantischen Landschaftsprojektionen geprägt ist.
Georg Scherlin studierte MultiMediaArt an der FH Salzburg und Kunst im Kontext an der UdK Berlin. Er stellte u.a. in der DAAD Galerie aus und führte Performances am Gropius Bau und dem Georg Kolbe Museum durch. Er lebt und arbeitet in Berlin.
Seit 2016 ist er Mitglied der Freund*innen der Freilichtbühne Weißensee e.V. und zuständig für Programm und Technik.
Seit 2017 ist er Teil von Art Ashram, ein Künstler*innen-Kollektiv das ekstatische Installationen gestaltet.

Georg Scherlin creates sculptures and installations that invite participation. He performatively includes himself in the role of the artist and uses this self-reflective method to question the historical, economic, and social conditions of sculpture. In particular, he addresses the relationship between humans and nature: a relationship that, even in times of severe environmental destruction, continues to be shaped by romantic projections of landscape.
Georg Scherlin studied MultiMediaArt at the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences and Art in Context at the Berlin University of the Arts. His work has been exhibited, among others, at DAAD Gallery, and he has performed at Gropius Bau and Georg Kolbe Museum. He lives and works in Berlin.
Since 2016 he is a part of Art Ashram, an artist collective designing ecstatic installations.
Since 2017 he is a member of Freund*innen der Freilichtbühne Weißensee e.V. and in charge of programming and technical support of the open-air-stage.
